Afro fusion singer and guitarist Nnena Omali presents her fans with an early Chrsitmas present: her new single titled “Palava” – an upbeat song which merges ethnic roots with contemporary sound.
Nnena first burst into our musical consciousness in 2006 when she was featured on the award winning song “Cry” by rapper Modenine before she went on to release the alternative ballad “Oluchi” which clinched her a Soundcity Music Video Award nomination in 2008.
The song “Palava” which she emotively describes as the product of a past experience tells a tale on its own. As a follow up to “Oluchi” which had touched on the touchy subject of abuse and battery exposing its ills with heartfelt imagery and lyrics, “Palava” is yet another expose, this time on the issue of poverty and how it has often led to societal misdemeanours or used as an excuse for illegality.
Powerful lyrics on powerful Afro-funk rhythms – a winning combo for Nnena Omali.
