tontoxx1Subtweeting is becoming a growing social media trend as celebrities take to Twitter to attack their nemeses without naming names. A subtweet is defined as a tweet about someone else on Twitter that doesn’t directly mention them. But if you think subtweet is the domain of Hollywood, think again. Nollywood is in on the act too. The most recent ‘subtweep’, it seems is Tonto Dikeh.

Yesterday Pokomami took to Twitter with a subtle dig without naming names:

It wasn’t long before tweeps started to read into her tweets, assuming she was referring to new mum Mercy Johnson. Some even tweeted at Tonto directly criticising her for attacking Mercy.

True to form, Tonto did not hold back in her reply tweets.

It has been reported that the feud between Tonto Dikeh and Mercy Johnson Okojie dates back to 2011 or earlier. While the reasons behind the feud are unclear, in a recent interview with NigeriaFilms.Com, when prodded on her relationship with the fellow actress, Tonto’s response was firm:

“I am not going to glorify anybody in my interview, so if you call that name again, I am going to stop the interview for no reason. I am tired of that, there are some things you just get tired of. I have granted an interview on that, and I have said that I don’t have a problem with her, I will never have a problem with her, she is just not my friend. That is it. When you keep asking me about her, I get really offended (her countenance changed). I am sorry.”

So was Tonto subtweeting at Mercy or not? What do you think? Regardless of whether there is a feud or not, let us hope they will soon kiss and make up.
