Day 2 at Fashion Scout kicked off with Zeynep Kartal who returned to London Fashion Week for another season. Kartal showcased a fabulously feminine yet sophisticated collection, ‘Efflorescene’ which explored the notion of ‘flowering out.’
Drawing inspiration from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic British novel, ‘The Secret Garden’, the designer showcased feminine designs in delicate chiffon and silk which demonstrated the turning of the seasons and power of nature.

The collection which exuded glamour was dominated by column dresses featuring sexy thigh high splits and box cut tops. Kartal showed her signature attention to detail with oversized pearlescent beading, sheer panelling and floral applique adding an enchanting feel to a collection which reflected the seasonal colours of spring and summer from lime green to rose pink graduating into dove grey and pristine whites.

‘Efflorescene’ explores the notion of ‘flowering out’ – drawing on inspiration from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic British novel, ‘The Secret Garden’. Kartal demonstrates the all encompassing power and charm of nature. Feminine silhouettes constructed in the most delicate chiffon and silk fabrics allude to the turning of the seasons as Kartal captures the notion of transformation throughout her collection.
Detailing is ethereal, with Kartal’s signature embellishing showcased in oversized pearlescent beading which is contrasted by delicate embroidery in thigh split column dresses and structured box cut tops. Kartal’s colour palette once again references the secret garden and the concept of change and transformation. Vivid lime tones fall into rose pinks and dove greys as the collection itself evolves as it takes to the catwalk, barely there botanical prints and floral applique detailing add elements of enchantment to ‘Efflorescene’ and fresh whites highlight a feeling of re-birth.
Kartal perfectly captures the wonder of nature in luxe floor skimming dress, pleated calf skirts and sheer panelling. Particular highlights of the collection included sculpted silk bodies teamed with floating collarless capes and a show stopping final catwalk look featuring a full skirted, three-dimensional floral dress with a classically nipped in waist in pink tones.
As ever, Kartal gives us a faultless lesson in timeless occasion and evening wear.
