Last night, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales hosted a reception in honour of the West African-origin community in Britain at St James’ Palace.
The event, which saw some of the best of the  community in attendance – such as high commissioners, barristers, authors, designers and traditional leaders – involved two performances from the cast of the musical Fela! which is currently showing at Sadlers Wells, London, aswell as the uptempo sounds of  Nana Tsiboe and his Supa Hi Life Band, and the Master Drummers of Africa.

Invited guests included poet and author Ben Okri, OBE, Yemi Osunkoya of Kosibah Creations, Bunmi Koko, Kanya King, Rachel Yankey and Ozwald Boateng, OBE. Oh, and of course FAB Magazine was there, too!
Although HRH did not make a speech, The Prince of Wales made sure to have a go on the drums, walk the room and meet and greet his guests, who spent their time mingling in the lavishly decorated reception room, whilst being served hors d’oeuvres of traditional African foods – such as dried meat sticks – and glasses of wine.
For more information on the event, stay FAB and look out for Vol2. issue 3 which launches in September…
