The International Women’s Society (IWS) is an organization that was established in 1957 in Nigeria by women from various countries who have a commitment to make a difference in the lives of those in need of care and support through various benefit programs. They are an independent, non-political, non- profit organization. They aim to promote international friendship and understanding and are passionate about using the IWS as a platform to encourage the spirit of public service.

The Annual Luncheon and Humanitarian of the Year Award on Tuesday 8th November is one of their vehicles to meet this objective.  They have dedicated the entire event to the memory of the late Professor Wangari Maathai to recognize her works and struggles through the Green Belt Movement and to inspire and call women to action. Some of the dignitaries attending include, The Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms. Teresa Clarke (C.E.O. and recent recipient of BET’s “Black Girls Rock” Leadership Award), various First Ladies and former wives of heads of state. Also expected to attend is Wanjira Maathai, daughter of the late Professor Maathai and Executive Director of the Green Belt Movement.

While there will not be charges for exhibitor’s fee, all attendees (including exhibitors and vendors) will be expected to pay the general entrance fee of N10, 000. All exhibitors/vendors will be given a table and a chair and free reign to display and exhibit as they desire. Vendor Payments should be made on or before the 2nd of November for a guaranteed booth at this event.
This event will hold at the Landmark Village Water Corporation Road, Oniru, Victoria Island Annex, Lagos on the 8th of November at 12 noon.
