A host of urbanely dressed celebrities were in attendance for the long-awaited event of the year, Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards which took place at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Victoria Island on Saturday, 8th March 2014.

The award ceremony supported by Amstel Malta inter mixed the big wigs from the Nollywood and Ghollywood scene coupled with throbbing performances from highlife artist Flavour, Davido, Bez, Waje and prolific producer, Cobhams Asuquo.

Mirror Boy star, Osita Iheme received the Best Actor in Comedy Award . looking visibly excited, the elegantly dressed actor expressed gratitude as he made his acceptance speech,
“I’m very grateful to everyone who voted for me, and made this a reality. Very special thanks to all the organisers, for giving us something to look forward to. I would like to urge movie producers to use their movies as a voice to fight the vices in our country. It’s time to make a change; let’s do our part to make a change.” He stated.

Other big winners include: Desmond Elliot (Best Supporting Actor in a Drama), Funke Akindele (Best Actress in a comedy), Tope Tedela (Best Actor in a Drama), Rita Dominic (New Era Award) amongst many others.

The Climax of the evening was the unveiling of Amstel Malta’s TV commercial, The Journey starring Genevieve Nnaji and Mikel Obi. The commercial is based on the superstars’ journey to success, their struggle to strategise a leading path in their careers, challenges, and victories. Genevieve Nnaji, expressed her excitement over the new commercial saying, “It’s been a fantastic night and I’m delighted with Amstel Malta’s efforts in celebrating our own with the world.”
