The concept of the Exhibition was brought foward by Taiwo Debo-Akande and Kehinde Osotimehin in 2011. Both already having the background of being lawyers, they did not lack in creativity, Kehinde owning a fashion line called ‘Belle D’Jour’, where she makes clothes by mixing very unlikely combinations to give you something that has more flavor and a lot of spunk. Taiwo on the otherhand has a brand called ‘Adela’s Haven’ and  uses the expertise of locals to create furniture pieces that stand out, while pairing them with very unsual accents to fit a tailor made space

In order to create awareness for the two businesses and those of other young entrpreneurs out there, Creativite was birthed and the first exhibition was held on the 7th of May 2011 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Lekki, Lagos. The event was featured on well known blogs, and fantastic reviews were given.

It was the perfect environment for participants to sell their creativity and their businesses. Some of the participants last year include hand bag maker O’eclat, jewelry maker I.O.N jewelry, Make up artist Dainty Affairs, photographer extraordinaire – TM Ilori, teeshirt artist – thots on tees, and Funsho a poignant artist, whose art work tells a story, amongst others.

The Growth and budding success of the Exhibition means that Creative is back again this year, with a lot more to offer and dazzle you with. It is being held on June 23rd 2012 at the Function Room One of the Oriental Hotel, Lekki expressway from 12-7pm. The Exhibitors this year include a sculptor, a wood carver, an artist, a cake maker, a shoe maker, a hand bag maker, a jewelry maker, a fashion designer, an interior decorator, photographer, make- up artist, a handmade greeting & seasonal card maker, a handmade soap maker and many others.

There is a focus on only one entrepreneur in each business category; this is to ensure that the entrepreneur has all the focus of potential clientele that attend the exhibition. This proved to be successful last year, the vendors were pleased with both their sales and networking opportunities, and so a couple of them have in fact decided to join in again this year.

Creativity requires a lot of your thought process and to that extent, should not only be commended but also supported to ensure it is sustained, especially nonprofit organizations such as this. Not only that but Creative Exhibitions help to create a sustainable medium via which young and creative entrepreneurs can sell their businesses to the appropriate audience to foster not only their creativity but also their businesses.
