The union of snake-hips singer Puerto-Rican Ricky Martin and Nicki Minaj for MAC was an unlikely one – but the new faces of MAC Viva Glam 2010 work surprisingly well
The first impression of the new lipstick campaign shows the unlikely twosome looking somewhat perfectly matched and quirky, in a colour popping photograph from the
equally quirky and much sought after David LaChapelle. Known for his ironic, surrealist work, LaChapelle photographed 28-year-old rap singer Minaj flaunting her assets as she suggestively kneels on motorbike whilst Mr Martin, 39, flexes his biceps in the back holding a supersize lipstick in the air.
The two lipsticks the stars represent are both shades of pink, which are to be sold entirely for charity. 100 per cent of the sale price will be donated to help fight HIV and AIDS.
As the lipstick reigns, there are no shortages of bright pink hues in the photograph which was taken in June in Miami. The $14 lipsticks, dubbed Viva Glam Ricky and Viva Glam Nicki, will go on sale in February, benefitting the campaign that has raised $224 million for HIV/AIDS-related causes since launching in 1994.
The stars have taken the reigns of the previous Viva Glam front woman, Lady Gaga. Other past faces of the ongoing fundraiser include the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Christina Aguilera, Fergie, Missy Elliott and Naomi Campbell.
