FAB Artist For The Week: Ajebutter22 is our FAB artist for the week


Afro pop artist, Akitoye Balogun popularly known for his stage name, Ajebutter 22 was born in Lagos and lived in Austria for a while. He studied in ISL (The international School) Lagos with a Bsc in Petroleum Engineering in Leeds University.

For Ajebutter22 music had always been an inbuilt passion especially the rap music genre till he made a career off music.

He’s into soul, funk, hip-hop, African-sounding-music and pop. The outstanding act was highly influenced by the pop legend, Michael Jackson, Heavy D, Tupac, Mariah Carey, Remedy and Plantashun boys. He was a member of the Soyinka’s Afro music group in 2009 with his sister, Taymii ( Social Ajebutterfly). His rap inspiration came from listening to Mode9, Terry tha rapman, Fabolous e.t.c

The funk artist showed love to his fans when he won the BlackBerry Q5 voice note competition in August 2013, he gave 5 lucky fans a brand new BlackBerry Q5 each.

A surprised winner commented on the artists kindness stating, “I’ve been having the most amazing week,” said one of the winners. “I couldn’t believe it when I got the message saying that I had won the BlackBerry Q5 device. What an awesome upgrade!


Ajebutter and Studio Magic recently released their collaboration album titled Anytime Soon on the 22nd of February. In less than 24hours it made Nigerian history. The album gained the #1 spot in the album category on iTunes Nigeria dropping Beyonce, Jay Z and Drake off the number one spot, placing Anytime Soon as #1 album on iTunes world music chart in the UK, #3 on iTunes world music chart Canada and #5 in the United States.
