Love is worth dying for or maybe not. South Africa’s football captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead in the chest in Johannesburg while trying to protect his girlfriend from burglars. The 27 year old was with his South African pop-star girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in her house in Vosloorus Johannesburg when two guys entered the house demanding for cellphones, money as well as other valuables. One of the guys had pointed a gun at Khumalo and Senzo stepped in to protect her but got shot in the chest. The burglars fled after shots were fired and Senzo was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Senzo who is married to Mandisa Mkhize fell for his singer girlfriend and deceived her into a relationship. This caused a rift between him and his wife that made him move out of his marital home when she found out he was cheating with Khumalo. Senzo and Khumalo had a baby girl together but shortly after He left her to work on his broken marriage. Senzo moved back to his matrimonial home in February after reconciling with his wife. He also went back to rekindle his relationship with girlfriend Khumalo who was aware of his marriage. Senzo was shot dead at her apartment after he was seen hanging out with her on Sunday.

The SA police took to their twitter account to announce that they will do all they can to bring Senzo’s killers to book. Senzo’s death follows that of another prominent South African sportsman, former world 800 metres champion Mbulaeni Mulaudzi who died in a car accident on Friday. May their souls rest in peace.
