Bijelly Couture, born out of the desire to make the next woman look beautiful launched its latest collection, ‘Golibe’, on Sunday 19th April, 2015 at the Mercedes Centre in Lekki. A two part extravaganza; the first half of ‘Golibe’, which means ‘joyous’ in Ibo, was clean and casual, from office wear to date night pieces while part two was more about red carpet and party looks featuring lots of cocktail dresses, jump suits, peplum, crop tops decorated flowing skirts and waist-cinching belts, as well as, floor sweeping gowns in sheer designs embellished with exotic bits of ‘Ankara’ prints and lace.
The ‘Golibe’ collection comprises of luxurious fabrics such as 3D damasks, pieces of African prints “Ankara” ,exotic lace with a blend of exquisite silk fabrics to accentuate any feminine silhouette. The richness of the collection does not just stop at the fine details it is bound to stir joy in every woman wearing and staring at it. Simply put, ‘Golibe’ is not just an item of clothing but a work of art, searing through time with classic couture details of everlasting fashion bliss.
We have to say the Bijelly ‘s ‘Golibe’ collection is everything the brand represents, made for the woman who is style conscious and willing to turn heads. Brainchild of Obiageli Maduwuba, a lawyer whose innate creative instincts pulled her out of the wig and gown profession you can see her personal transition from the office and quite literally to the runway from her latest collection.
‘Golibe’ follows Maduwuba’s S/S ’14 debut collection tagged ‘Kilibe’ meaning ‘keep looking’ and not too long after, she was selected to represent Nigeria at the Glitz Africa Fashion Week (GAFW 2014) where she launched her second collection the ‘Lady Luxe’.
With what looks set to be ‘Golibe’s’ success we can’t wait to see what Bijelly brings to the table next.
