beyonce-album-2013-dlWho can release a poignant song about marital troubles laid on an island tune (“Ring Off”) followed by a happy-go-lucky, cheeky dance anthem with a stripped down video seemingly shot with a handheld cam in a hotel room (“7/11”)? Why, Beyoncé of course. Queen Bey released the audio and video back track off her upcoming deluxe version of last year’s Beyonce, which is coming out November 24. If we recall last year’s surprise album drop, when it comes to Beyoncé, anything is to be expected.

Possibly not an example of lyrical genius, the simple dance instructions of “7/11” are merely feel-good and fun with an equally cheeky video which sees Bey let her hair down in a range of casual looks and working on her moves with a bunch of girls.

“Legs movin’ side to side, smack it in the air,” the singer instructs. “Clap, clap, clap, clap it / Foot up, my foot up / Hold up now my foot up/ I’m spinnin’ my foot up.”

“Ring Off” is a lot more poignant where she talks about the marital woes of a woman who has finally had enough and taken her “ring off”. While many speculated that the song was about the singer’s rumoured marital troubles with Jay Z when the song leaked online earlier this week, we can’t help but think perhaps Bey is singing about her parents’ failed marriage.

Check out the lyrics:

“Mama, I understand your many sleepless nights / When you sit and think about father / Or how you tried to be the perfect wife.”
