With the black carpet rolled out, photographers ready to capture all things glamorous, Lights, cameras and ACTION!!!! The show opened with celebrities, bloggers, fashionistas, stylistas, models, judges and catwalk lovers mingling on the black carpet on champagne served by MOET&CHANDON. With all these fun going outside, the backstage was ‘tensionified’. Models getting makeup and hair done, organizers’ making sure everything is going as planned and judges anticipating who stands out enough to represent Nigeria in the Elite Model Look International.

The host for the night was, beautiful and elegant presenter-Eku Edewor and she kicked off the show with introductions-herself, judges and then the finalists.

With models strutting down the runway with swimwear from MELISSA ODABASH SWIMSUIT COLLECTION, the crowd seemed impressed, They were different and they all stood out compared to last year. Elohor was right, they were really looking for someone who can meet/beat the international scene.

Other designers for the night were Virgo’s lounge, Republic of foreigner and Bridget Awosika as closing. Bridget’s high fashion and sophisticated designs was my look for the night as the models looked like they were heading to New York Fashion week.

When i spoke to last years’ winner-16yr old Chika Emmanuel, and asked how the journey has been so far. She said it has been tough but her inner strength didn’t fail her, and that the girls this year were “well picked”. I agree too.

Before the top six (Sharon, Aieze, Ruth, Ruky, Saratu and Chinwe) were called, the tension had to be eased and only music can do that. Tiwa Savage, Davido and NaetoC performed their hit songs.

The 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th runner up were called and then the winner-Chinwe.

Chinwe will be representing Nigeria at the Elite Model International in China later this year and of course will be gracing our runways…

Congratulations Chinwe Ejere and to the other girls, who are winners too, I’m sure you will be seeing them wearing top Nigerian haute couture designs anytime soon and more and more often.
