Last night MTV EMAs turned into the Nicki Minaj Show as the hostess for the evening commanded the stage, wowed the audience in 8 different looks, won over her Glaswegian audience with her rap and a spectacular performance of and generally owned the show.
The rapper landed on the stage in a show-stopping (or should we say show-starting?) grey ruffle hem dress featuring a 14ft train, signalling a whole lot of glamour to follow as she dazzled the audience one outfit at a time and of course a spectacular performance midway through the show.
But first it was time to woo her Scottish audience as the rapper took to the mic to rap her twist on the cult favourite Proclaimers hit “I’m Gonna Be.” She kicked off with the line: ‘Queen, that’s what they call me, plus I’m ballin’ with the tartan army’ before she broke into ‘I would walk 500 miles…’, complete with audience participation.
Her outfit of choice for this performance was a cute little red number more suitable for Valentine’s which featured a heart Nicki wore on her elbow.
Then came the third outfit change in the first thirty minutes of the show in the shape of a little white golf dress which left little to the imagination displaying Nicki’s famed curves.
Following a spectacular performance of “Super Bass” and “Anaconda” which also had a surprise debut of her latest single “Bed of Lies” featuring Skylar Grey, Nicki had yet another ensemble, this time a white mini with cut out detail which exposed a little bit of midriff as she accepted her award for Best Hip Hop.
Another showstopper came in the shape of a black long figure hugging gown with a plunging sheer neckline showing off Minaj’s generous cleavage.
One of our absolute favourites came later in the show in the form of a cape dress monochrome geometric patterns which Minaj opted to accessorise with a short sharp fringed bob.
The rapper then went back to her longer wig as she donned a glittery tiny mini dress paired with sparkling heels.
While the show saw 8 outfits in total, there was one more after the ceremony as the “Pink Friday” rapper took to the photo call in one final look – an oriental green jacket and cute black playsuit.
What do you think of Minaj’s 8 looks? Overkill or uberFAB? Do drop us a line and give us your verdict.
