2014, doubtless, was the year of the backside. While we feel a bit frustrated that the mainstream have only just discovered the beauty of a well-shaped booty which was around long before Sir Mix-a-lot began rapping his “anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns hun”, we can only join in and celebrate. Here is a look at the top ten women with legendary behinds.
Jennifer Lopez
While this sizzling Latina is credited for bringing the booty back, we all know better of course. Having said that, it’s hard to deny the 45-year old singer still looks good for age and can teach us a thing or two about keeping our backside and the rest of it in shape.
Nicki Minaj
She made it ‘abundantly’ clear with this year’s hit single what the Minaj charm is all about –”Yeah. I got a big fat ass. Come on!” Ever since her foray on to the rap scene, the Black Barbie has wowed both men and women with her sizeable asset. Whether real or fake, we salute her for giving her “bitches with a fat ass” a confidence boost.
Kim Kardashian
Another famous derriere the authenticity of which has come into question time and time again. While the jury’s still out on this one, Kim K.’s killer curves have firmly placed her on the sexiest lists across the globe and we can’t deny that she might have just one of the most famous posteriors in showbiz and has even attempted to break the internet with it earlier this year.
Iggy Azalea
In the light of her recent clash with Azaelia Banks and accusations of appropriating the black culture, we are not sure how wise it is to pay homage to Iggy appropriating curves as well but you’ve got a give props where they’re due, especially when they’ve got a seal of approval from JLo with the aptly name collabo “Booty”. Although in the Australian rapper’s case, we think she may be packing more in the hips department…

Forget Kim and that infamous Paper Magazine cover. Long before Kim Kardashian West tried to “break the internet” with her booty – precisely five months before –”Bootylicious Boity” as she came to be referred to, aka South African TV presenter Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo broke the internet down south with her naked spread for Marie Claire’s annual Naked Issue, which raises awareness and money for the Lunchbox Fund, a nutrition and education nonprofit. Not surprisingly the image trended for days in South Africa and launched a string of memes.

While not as (in)famous as her older sister’s, Khloe Kardashian’s backside has also had a noticeable growth spurt over the years. And much like Kim, Khloe also enjoys flaunting her assets in figure hugging clothes so who are we to deny her a place on our list?

The rumour mill was in such overdrive a few years back that one of Nollywood leading ladies and Time magazine’s 100 Influential People in 2013 Omotola Jalade Ekeinde publicly denied having had butt implants. While her curves, much like her global fame, seems to have seen some remoulding, we reckon this is down to her steady weight loss, exercise and increasingly savvy style choices.
